Troost + Armour Redevelopment

Reestablishing Armour Blvd + Troost Ave as a community hub, vibrant with pedestrian activity.

Situated on the crossroads of two historically significant streets, the development of the Armour + Troost intersection is a physical manifestation of the unique identities of four distinct neighborhoods that occupy the four corners. As part of the continued revitalization of the Armour Boulevard corridor, this is Silliman Group’s first venture along Troost and its largest undertaking yet.

“If we’re looking for our city to thrive and grow, [these kinds] of projects are going to have to happen. We’re looking at something that will bring vitality to the area.” — Councilman Lee Barnes Jr., Chair of the Neighborhood, Planning & Development Committee

The Armour Troost intersection will contain a mix of street-level restaurants and retail, as well as multi-family housing. While many apartments will be market-rate, almost 300 units will have monthly rents below the City Council definition of affordable, and teachers and other public employees will receive a discount on their rent. These strategies aim to invigorate this intersection and become a hub for the community. To inform the design, Helix delved into the past of each unique neighborhood and sought out how they envision their future. The result will be four unique, yet cohesive and complementary buildings that offer a new beginning for the area.
