Pioneering modular housing in Kansas City
3435 Main is Kansas City’s first modular apartment building. Helix principal Doug Stockman led the team that developed a concept to manufacture apartment pods offsite, to later have them be shipped to the job site and expedite the construction timeline
The new building, located in Midtown, is closely connect to public transportation, small businesses, restaurants and residences. Part of a larger neighborhood being developed by Mac Properties along the 31st & Gillham corridor, this building is the first new construction built by the developers in Kansas City.

The modular style significantly reduced the amount of waste created through construction,” Cassel said. “On a typical site, you have 7 to 10 percent materials waste. With modular we had less than 3 percent waste.”
